Rare Sight

Rare Sight

As daytime is halved,

a young child notices the most

puzzling things.

an old one has seen much, so

the world baffles less.

One thing shocks on this occasion

at a time when the sun ought

to be king and shine, the moon

stares back. she is alive in the day,

a miracle is what this must be.

ah…

The moon. Home of howl.

Setter of sea tides. Lady Luminescence.

Her presence today claims the lie that

Night is nigh.

clouds flutter by and away it goes

No more moon.

The heavens’ solitary emblem of dark,

Often invisible at this time,

shall continue to be so now and possibly ever

All I, one so old and wise, could say was

“OK. Wow. Would be cool to photograph though.”

Sight was wasted on me

should’ve dreamed instead.
