Mercy is a weird thing.
A field once
Had no crop
A home once
Had no food
A thought once
Had no drive
A world once
Did mostly cry
A food once
Had no taste
A war once
Killed every fighter
A room once
Had no light
Mercy
An unusual theme
Does what the world rarely does
Helps the hopeless,
By giving
All of itself,
For the field of an enemy
For the home that is haunting
For the thought that is saddening
For a world that is hating
For a food that is poison
For a war that is damning
For a room that is empty.
All mercy sees
Is someone in need.
That’s really
All there ever is.
